I am having problems getting pvrusb2 to work under Ubuntu 6.06-1 LTS - the Dapper Drake. For 6-7 years ago I was using Unix at work & home and have now decided to try out Linux, because I would like to remove Windows and run Linux in future, so I'm like “new” to Linux.
My problems is that I cannot get the Hauppauge PVR USB2 to work with any programs like mythtv, xawtv and kdetv. I have read in your list archive that kdetv will not work, but it seems that many has pvrusb2 running with mythtv and xawtv. I have downloaded and install v0.20 (latest). I have mythtv running except the TV part. So what have I done? I have install the latest kernel v2.6.18-rc7 including pvrusb2 (this kernel because pvrusb2 is included) and it failed “msp3400: chip reset failed”. Then I downloaded and installed the latest pvrusb2 driver pvrusb2-mci-20060903.tar.bz2 and now I am getting this message when I connect it: [ 490.372000] usb 3-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [ 490.504000] usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 490.716000] Linux video capture interface: v2.00 [ 490.824000] usbcore: registered new driver pvrusb2 [ 490.828000] /home/blykkebo/wintv/pvrusb2-mci-20060903/driver/pvrusb2-main.c: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2 MPEG2 Encoder/Tuner : 20060903 (from www.isely.net) [ 490.828000] /home/blykkebo/wintv/pvrusb2-mci-20060903/driver/pvrusb2-main.c: Debug mask is 15 (0xf) [ 490.936000] usb 3-1: reset high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [ 491.668000] msp3400 0-0040: MSP3415G-B8 found @ 0x80 (pvrusb2_a) [ 491.668000] msp3400 0-0040: MSP3415G-B8 supports nicam and radio, mode is autodetect and autoselect [ 491.704000] saa7115 0-0021: saa7115 found @ 0x42 (pvrusb2_a) [ 491.908000] tuner 0-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (pvrusb2_a) [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: Hauppauge model 29034, rev C347, serial# 6800105 [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: tuner model is LG TP18PSB01D (idx 47, type 28) [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: TV standards PAL(B/G) (eeprom 0x04) [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: audio processor is MSP3415 (idx 6) [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: decoder processor is SAA7115 (idx 19) [ 491.940000] tveeprom 0-0050: has radio, has IR remote [ 491.968000] tuner 0-0061: type set to 28 (LG PAL_BG+FM (TPI8PSB01D)) [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: MSP3415G-B8 rev1 = 0x0207 rev2 = 0x0f48 [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: Audio: volume 65535 [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: Audio: balance 0 bass 0 treble 0 loudness off [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: Standard: autodetect start (mono) [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: Audmode: 0x0001 [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: Routing: 0x00000000 (input) 0x00000044 (output) [ 492.088000] msp3400 0-0040: ACB: 0x0c00 [ 492.088000] saa7115 0-0021: Audio frequency: 48000 Hz [ 492.088000] saa7115 0-0021: Input: Composite 4 [ 492.088000] saa7115 0-0021: Video signal: bad [ 492.088000] saa7115 0-0021: Frequency: 50 Hz [ 492.088000] saa7115 0-0021: Detected format: BW/No color [ 492.088000] tuner 0-0061: Tuner mode: analog TV [ 492.088000] tuner 0-0061: Frequency: 175.25 MHz [ 492.088000] tuner 0-0061: Standard: 0x00000005 [ 492.088000] pvrusb2: Device initialization completed successfully. [ 492.088000] pvrusb2: registered device video0 [mpeg] To me it seems to be working and if I boot Windows and select a channel, then boot Ubuntu (dual boot on my laptop) and 'cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg' it will record the channel both video and audio, so OK. But why can't I get mythtv or xawtv to work? In mythtv-setup I have selected Capture Cards as 'V4L: /dev/video0'. Capture card setup: Card type: 'Analog V4L capture card' Video device: '/dev/video0' Probe info: 'Hauppauge WinTV pvr-usb2 [pvrusb2]' VBI device: Empty - (none to select) Audio device: '/dev/dsp' Audio samp...: '44100' Default input: 'television' But under 'Input connections' all (television, s-video, composite, radio) are (None) and if I select 'television' and try 'Scan for channels' it say: Video Source: 'Empty', Capture Card: 'Empty' and Scan Type: 'Failed to open the card'. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Bent _______________________________________________ pvrusb2 mailing list [email protected] http://www.isely.net/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pvrusb2
