As it turns out, my problems had simple solutions: 1. Updating the kernel solved the problem on the digital side 2. Switching to a different media player solved the problem with the broken frames. After trying different players, I found that xine can handle broken frames without difficulty, it just pauses for a while. I've been playing TV with xine for 10 hr non stop, and sound and image are still fine. dmesg shows that the firmware for the encoder has been loaded 4 times so far, but the interface never got messed up.
Thanks for all the help. I learned a lot from the suggestions and documents I found here. My next challenges will be lirc and radio, but I'm postponing those for now. -- Lars On Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 8:56 PM, Mike Isely <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > On Sat, 15 Nov 2008, Lars Maersk wrote: > > > Please excuse my overenthusiasm here, I might be jumping to the wrong > > conclusions.
