My PVRUSB2 WinTV did not work properly with Intrepid until I upgraded to 2.6.27-8
I am currently on 2.6.27-10 YMMV Geoff -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Daniel Pope Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 1:04 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [pvrusb2] Wintv PVR USB2 - no signal Hi, I picked up a second-hand Wintv unit and am trying to configure it for Mythbuntu. I'm running the Intrepid release - 2.6.27-7... This apparently has all drivers and relevent firmware for my 29xxx version device. The output of dmesg | tail -n 50 gives me: 284.964028] usb 4-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3 [ 285.099348] usb 4-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 285.229450] msp3400' 3-0040: MSP3415G-B8 found @ 0x80 (pvrusb2_a) [ 285.229456] msp3400' 3-0040: msp3400 supports nicam and radio, mode is autode tect and autoselect [ 285.287828] saa7115' 3-0021: saa7115 found (1f7115d0e100000) @ 0x42 (pvrusb2_ a) [ 285.445331] tuner' 3-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 (pvrusb2_a) [ 285.473581] tveeprom 3-0050: Hauppauge model 29035, rev C324, serial# 6586214 [ 285.473587] tveeprom 3-0050: tuner model is Philips FM1246 (idx 24, type 1) [ 285.473590] tveeprom 3-0050: TV standards PAL(I) (eeprom 0x10) [ 285.473592] tveeprom 3-0050: audio processor is MSP3415 (idx 6) [ 285.473595] tveeprom 3-0050: decoder processor is SAA7115 (idx 19) [ 285.473600] tveeprom 3-0050: has radio, has IR receiver, has no IR transmitte r [ 285.473605] pvrusb2: Supported video standard(s) reported available in hardwa re: PAL-I [ 285.473608] pvrusb2: Mapping standards mask=0x10 (PAL-I) [ 285.473611] pvrusb2: Setting up 1 unique standard(s) [ 285.473616] pvrusb2: Set up standard idx=0 name=PAL-I [ 285.473619] pvrusb2: Initial video standard guessed as PAL-I [ 285.473627] pvrusb2: Device initialization completed successfully. However, running mplayer /dev/video0 just gives me: MPlayer 1.0rc2-4.3.2 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ (Family: 15, Model: 43, Stepping: 1) CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 1 3DNow2: 1 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1 Compiled with runtime CPU detection. Playing /dev/video0. ..though no mplayer window opens. When I hit ctrl+c I get: MPlayer interrupted by signal 2 in module: demux_open Running scantv just gives me a whole pile of 'no station' results, and a scan within Mythtv show 0% signal and no stations found. (Just to cover the obvious - yes it is plugged into a working ariel) I've also tried the device in Windows and the Hauppage software, when scanning, scans for a couple of seconds then tells me there's no signal. Is this a firmware / driver issue, or have I bought a duff Wintv box..? Many thanks in advance for your help (this forum has been invaluable in getting me this far) and apologies for the lengthy post.
