Well ... there is an easy work-around to make this work, which most other
webservers implement: they immediately redirect urls ending in a directory
without slash to the same location with a slash appended. If you do this,
relative URLs work correctly again. I implemented this long ago, I think
it's the default book address, IIRC. If you try
http://balloon.cs.uni-magdeburg.de:8888/bert
you'll be redirected to
http://balloon.cs.uni-magdeburg.de:8888/bert/
so the button images work okay, although they are relatively addressed.
It's not actually a bug, but nice to have and easy to implement.
