I don't remember why I did it like this in PWS.  I think (not 
positive) was that I defined edit as a method of pages, so I create 
the page before invoking the edit, and pages were tightly linked to 
whole Swikis -- a design error I describe in my book. I'll let Je77 
explain why he did in ComSwiki when he returns.

Which has caused us no end of headaches around here!  Google's robots 
ask for 40+ pages simultaneously, which crashed our Mac servers 
pretty quickly.  GaTech's own robot for its own search engine is, 
well, not too bright.  We've tried to get them to read robots.txt 
files (and for us to write them to help them) and to not trace Swikis 
inappropriately, but without luck.  If you go to 
http://www.gatech.edu and search for any student who has a page in a 
Swiki, you'll find both their page, and EVERY REVISION IN THE HISTORY 
OF THAT PAGE! <sigh>
