Hi,
I had a ComSwiki running on NT 4 for months and I never had any performance
problems. However, I just upgraded that machine to Win2000 2 days ago,
moved the swiki to the newly installed machine yesterday evening, started
it and left for the day. In the morning the machine was totally
unresponsive with the Swiki taking up 99% of the CPU (at low memory load,
and -- I'm convinced -- practically zero traffic on the Swiki). I'm
surprised to hear that other people have problems with performance on NT --
it always worked like a charm on my NT box.
I haven't had Squeak running by itself (for extended periods of time) on
that machine. I'll do that as the next test.
Oh - maybe a tidbit of interest. When I finally shot down the ComSwiki in
the Task Manager, it listed that Squeak process with about 2.5 hours of
processor time (that's since yesterday evening). This is a weird number
considering that it was running for about 18 hours and supposedly took up
99% of the processor's time.

While I have run into an occasional Squeak/Win2K glich, none have been CPU
usage
issues; ComSwiki, on the other hand, crashes the machine everytime. Since
we
moved the ComSwiki to the Linux server, it's been running like a dream.
Does
anyone know how it runs on Mac OS X server; one of our supporters may be
donating a Mac server and I am wondering/dreading what awaits me?
Thanks--John
