So as-of-today it would be possible to write a transport that would
allow you to send/receive presence and messages via the Skype network
--- with the help of a 'proxy' application that you would need to run
on the same machine as an existing Skype installation.

You would need to install this proxy seperatly, and probably tell it
the transport's address, and your jid.  Once the transport-proxy is
launched, you would need to 'OK' Skype's 'Confirm Silent Mode' window.

It would probably also be possible to add some commands like '/call'
to ask Skype to start calling the contact.  Maybe also prompt the user
to type '/answer' if the contact calls you, etc, etc...
