xmpp.py is very picky about namespaces, and you'll probably find that the
other transports are either doing magic detection, or are don't care about
the namespaces as much.

Any chance that I can get a local copy of your server product to help
debugging?  (it can be a evaluation licence, or limited to localhost, it
doesn't matter - alternatively do you have a test server that I can try and
connect to?)
