Hello again;

I am having fits getting Eclipse to work. First the OS info:

Debian Linux stretch version
KDE Desktop
Intel i5-750 processor ( 64 bit, 4 processors, 2.65 GHz)

When I start Eclipse with an empty workspace and no plugins installed
the java package settles out and everything seems to be OK. When I
access Help -> Marketplace sometimes marketplace hangs and java starts
using about 25% of my total cpu time. This lasts indefinitely. I can not
close the Eclipse application unless I go into the process table and
either kill java or select "show application window" (I am using the KDE
System Monitor.) If I go to install software and select a source the
application shows pending and hangs there. If I actually do get market
place to work and manage to download pydev, django doesn't show up
anywhere in the Eclipse application. I haven't gotten to the point of
creating a project yet.

I have installed the application from
eclipse-java-mars-1-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz. I unpack the file to an
eclipse directory. I open the directory and, using Dolphin, drag and
dropped the directory in the eclipse directory into the /opt directory.
I then create a softlink with: ln -s /opt/eclipse/eclipse
/usr/local/bin/eclipse.
I set up the desktop icon using the KDE application editor.

This problem is hard to characterize. Both hanging and excessive cpu
usage by java are involved. Both can be brought on by more than one action.

I hope someone can shed some light on the issues. Your help will be
sincerely appreciated.

Gary R.
