Hi Gary,
Have you tried a different Java VM?
Also, have you checked LiClipse? (it comes with a VM and PyDev bundled, so,
even if you don't want to use it afterwards because it's commercial, you
can use the trial just to check if things work there as it's usually better
pre-configured -- and if it works it's a sign it's something in your
configuration).
