The first alpha release of pyglet is finally available!
There are a variety of source and binary distributions available from
the new-look website: http://www.pyglet.org/.
The kind of feedback we're interested in for this alpha release is:
* Does it work on your platform(s)? A tagged release should
reach a wider audience than relying on developers to checkout
a source release from SVN.
* Do the distributions work? The Windows and Mac installers
are fairly complex, and while I've tested them extensively on
my own computers, that's not much of a representative sample.
The source and egg releases are straight-forward distutils/
setuptools affairs, but nevertheless it's good to make sure
these work as intended.
* Do the examples work? There's a small Asteroids clone in
there now ("Astraea") which demonstrates many of pyglet's
features.
* Does the documentation make sense? There's no programming
guide yet (it is under development), but the API documentation
is more or less complete.
The source and documentation distributions also include the test suite.
Running through the whole suite takes around 30 minutes of interactive
use, so if you can spare the time your efforts would be very much
appreciated.
Even if you don't get around to running the test suite, but you do run
one or two examples successfully, please add your system details to the
Wiki at http://pyglet.org/wiki/doku.php?id=known_good_configurations --
this helps us keep tabs on which platforms are being neglected.
Thanks to everyone who's submitted an issue or test report so far; these
have been invaluable. Apologies in advance for any remaining problems
with pyglet -- hopefully we can move to a stable beta release in a short
time.
