My gut feeling is that pyglet doesn't yet provide enough functionality - I
would be hard put to produce something more meaningful than my pong or life
demos (see blog in signature) in a weekend.

Perhaps you might consider providing a framework for these competitions,
build around a couple of other libraries in addition to pyglet - for
example, pymunk (http://code.google.com/p/pymunk/) for physics.
