I've played around with this a lot lately. I ran in to a number of issues with the positional audio, suffice it to say you may be better off going with the low level OpenAL bindings in Pyglet rather than the convience functions for it. The Min/Max settings aren't the issue, its the AL_ROLLOFF_FACTOR and AL_SOURCE_RELATIVE default settings, neither of which are available in the pyglet convience functions.
I've written a low level OpenAL example from the work i've done so far that you may find useful, though at the moment it only loads *.wav files. I've thought of using AVBin to help side load more file types but haven't gotten around to it yet.
