Regarding http://trac.vex.net:8000/pgtracker/ticket/31, I am proposing
that we limit support to Python 2.5 and PostgreSQL 8.3 based on my
comment there. Unless someone has a good argument against that I will
update the docs shortly. Hopefully that will let us move on with the
other milestones for 4.1.

We also need to think about 5.0. The plan (http://trac.vex.net:8000/pgtracker/roadmap) is that 5.0 should run with both Py 2+3. This will be much easier when 5.0 requires Py 2.6, which also allows us to support named tuples (http://trac.vex.net:8000/pgtracker/ticket/22).

The 4.x branch is our backward compatible maintenance branch, therefore we shouldn't push ahead so quickly here, but maybe require Py 2.4 in 4.1 and Py 2.5 in 4.2?

I suggest pushing forward to 4.1 now and thereafter creating a 4.x branch in the repository, working towards 5.0 in the trunk. Some of the improvements and fixes from the trunk can be backported to 4.2.
