I think this is just a case of an API where the difficulty in wrapping 
it outweighed the chance that someone might want to use it (wrapping 
functions that don't use the standard GtkCallbackMarshal (gtk 1.2) or 
GClosures (gtk 2.0) take a bit more effort to wrap -- not much though). 
 I think you two are the first to ask about that one in the lifetime of 
pygtk (would have to search the archives to be sure though).

Yes.  I am always interested in patches.  I find it easiest to manage 
patches if they are put in bugzilla (http://bugzilla.gnome.org).  If you 
haven't used bugzilla before, to submit a patch, first create the bug, 
and then go to the bug's page and click on the create new attachment link.
