I couldn't agree more; I'd love to use Python 3.1, but very little software I 
use runs on it :-/

I imported all the releases of PyGUI I could find into a Mercurial repository, 
and uploaded it to Bitbucket.[1] It also includes the fix to make PyGUI run on 
Mac OS X 10.6, as  2.2 _still_ doesn't work there. With regard to hosting, I'd 
personally prefer either them or Google Code, as I've always found the 
Sourceforge user experience quite annoying.

My Mercurial repository contains an experimental, incomplete native Cocoa 
backend. I abandoned it partially because of the lack of collaboration…
