Just FYI:
I could solve the problem for my setup.
I updated ipython from 1.1.0 to 2.2.0
and pywin32 from 218 to 219
I guess, that the problem was probaly pywin32
Version 218 was an egg file
version 219 install as flat files perhaps there was some issue with
autodiscovering some modules in the egg.

Installing dev version via pip is not possible (I haven't tried
that).
But you can still use pyinstaller directly from the code tree without
installation:
python .\path\to\pyinstaller\pyinstaller.py ...
