Hey Peter, I'm glad you beat me to all those changes. You're committing to master right?
Unfortunately I only get a little time each day to work on things of my choosing. Last night I only got as far as to track down why the pyjs page wasn't loading in chrome. One hour, one problem, at that speed. . . Anyways, I haven't started to play with the layout outside of chrome's developer view. The way it was done in the developer's view though was by decreasing the height of one of the header divs, allowing the tab panel to slide up. The right hand panel then needs to be pushed down, which I did with increased top padding. I don't know how to translate that to pyjs yet, it would take some experimenting. Also I don't know if using the padding like that is ideal.
