I think 'better than' is a bit misleading. As others noted, they're quite different, with different advantages and different disadvantages. The new PylonsHQ site (http://beta.pylonshq.com/) is running off CouchDB as I felt like getting more familiar with it, and it's made development a bit more fun. Also, the lack of schema came in quite useful for some of the things I was storing. It's also a major pain in the butt in other ways, that you have to design around.
