Would an application with this change be able to run on standard
0.9.7?  Because I have multiple servers and co-developers, and while I
don't mind installing the development version to create an
application, I'd rather not make everybody else install the
development version to run it.

If not, I'd suggest an interim 0.9.8 release.  While we've never
directly promised that applications are nestable, we've implied that
it would probably work with a little effort.
