This is what I did - you're using Pylons, not Pyramid right? If you're using Pyramid, http://cd34.com/blog/framework/converting-pylons-1-0-repoze-whorepoze-what-to-pyramid-1-0a1-authentication-backed-with-mysql/ uses the repoze.who/repoze.who schema that I used for another project.
