FWIW, I've finished a "Quick Tutorial" which accompanies the "Quick
Tour" and hope to merge it into the docs soon-ish. It has a section on
SQLAlchemy where you do the wiring by hand rather than run the scaffold.

creates a simple db connection in the model file.
You'd probably be best off creating a new , empty project with the alchemy
scaffold, then copying a few lines of code into your existing project.
