i forgot to add... something that has been making this a bit harder is some sort of wildcard in the mapper that has the path `/*subpath`.
i haven't tracked down what it's from ( debugtoolbar?!? ) because of that wildcard, the NotFoundView will always redirect to a slash, no matter the existance of a route or not. that makes the entire for-loop silly.
