This is fixed in PyLucene 7.2.0 which is available here as a release candidate:
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/lucene/pylucene/7.2.0-rc1/
This release has been in limbo since 12/21/2017, not having received the
required 3 PMC votes but the release artifacts are good. You should use them !
