Yes, I figured out what was necessary, and posted another note. It
would be very handy if PyLucene worked out-of-the-box on the system
Python in Mac OS X 10.4.6. I can send you patches, or you can figure
out (probably better) ones of your own.
For a long time, the system python on OS X wasn't up to the task. This was
resolved in 2.3.5.
