I just checked out the gcc trunk sources via svn and I still can't build gcc 4.2.0 on Intel Mac OS X. I get the following error:

(yes, I used --enable-languages=c,c++,java)

 *** This configuration is not supported in the following subdirectories:
     target-libmudflap target-libffi target-zlib target-libjava
     target-libada gnattools target-libgfortran target-libobjc
     target-boehm-gc

Did you try to build the compiler anyway? These configure warnings are not critical and gcc should still build fine.

I just tried it now and it fails pretty quickly. The first error is:

/usr/include/sys/_types.h:96: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '__darwin_blkcnt_t'

Another ominous error later is:
/usr/include/machine/limits.h:10:2: error: #error architecture not supported

This is with svn rev 117828
