Update: There is a workaround for the free Student version 
(MacPyMOL-v1.3r1-edu.tar.bz2) to get it working in Yosemite. Use this script to 
launch MacPyMOL, modify the $app variable if necessary.

Hope this is useful to all who got stuck with a non-working Edu PyMOL.
