If anyone is interested, I could create a different mailing list in order to discuss this in more details, as it's only related to PyPy on the original idea level. From experience I would think that this has the potential to become a Psyco-like experiment, but unlike 10 years ago, today I'm not ready any more to dive completely alone into a project of that scale :-)

Hm, personally I do find less fire and more irons is a problem ... but I'm 73, how old can Armin be? ;-)
I have too many irons (for me ;-) in the fire to participate much beyond occasional delurking, but I thought maybe a mailing list for your STM work could possibly serve also as preemptive defense against IP trolls, by establishing prior art and publication of ideas from yourself and others thinking about STM. Could you say something preemptive re STM for concurrent update of shared direct rendering video memory? What issues re separation of metadata vs "value" representation? Or re heterogenous processor mixes operating on shared data? Or re security/permissions/capabilities? Ditto for scaling the STM concept for distributed update of blobs in the cloud (with presumable implications for the smart phone environment, maybe crowd-sourced updates to crowd-viewed cloud representation of something, whether emergency info or flashmob partying status, etc.).
