Yeah. I'd seen this panel too (oh well, part of it ;), and it is very interesting. Also Guido (acting a representant of Google App Engine) said that there are many situations were a true relational/SQL database is not really needed, and that other capabilities could be more important. This might perfectly be the case for PyTables and many applications (as Elias has shown with his web app.).
