I cannot duplicate the crash on NetBSD 5.1_STABLE/i386 with Python 2.6.7, or on OpenSuSE 11.3 with Python 2.6.5. (It's interesting that it doesn't crash on the older branch of NetBSD, but it does on the newer, both with the same version of Python and underlying Expat...)
