This would be nice too. Speaking from my experience, it's hard to leave the comfort of what looks to be a quick win (by submitting a PR on an easy issue) and moving on to something where you're more unsure. Maybe that could be written up under the triager section of the devguide as a way to triage. An experienced person can do the legwork, just short of submitting the PR, and then help mentor a newcomer who wants to follow it through.
