it's a bit misleading to call it mentorship. Sure, mentorship can still
be private; but it's pretty inefficient – and counter to the goal of
spreading knowledge – if only a private group gets to benefit from the

And that's why I made sure to point out that any more widely
applicable information *will be incorporated into the devguide*.
So rather than pointing people to a potentially meandering discussion,
we'll be able to point them to a straightforward coherent answer,
without all the false starts and clarifications that happen in a real
mailing list conversation.
