The Django sprint was really cool and left me wishing for more such meetings.
Now that web frameworks (yeah, ok, one framework), got their 15 minutes of glory, it's time for some desktop frameworks to show their face to the Israeli pythonistas. There are 4 major framewors for desktop UI development (wxPython, pyQT, pygtk and Tkinter), there are packaging tools (py2exe and pyinstaller), you can use Jython and Swing/SWT and you can go with IronPython and WinForms. There are a lot of options and alternatives and quite a bit to think about when you want to delelop a desktop app in Python, and that's without even mentioning the emerging ability to do both Silverlight apps and Adobe Air apps in Python. I'm thinking of a few hours of lectures and discussions about the various pipeces of the puzzle, and a crossaint throwing contest between the proponents of the different approaches. How about it? --- gooli @ www.testuff.com
