I'd prefer in the week as most weekends I'm busy with family. What I would really like is that the place/venue be easy to find and is accessible. For example if it was in the middle of Manchester I'd probably be put off trying to find the place and then paying an expensive car park miles away. As for what format, why not for the first few meet ups just keep it informal at a bar or something and then we can discuss what to do next as a group?
