Martin just joined the list, and put forward a lengthy explanation in the "reason to join" box we use as anti-spam :) I thought it deserved posting so here it is: """ Hi I was at the meeting on Monday, I worked with Flo on trying to scrape the DWD site. Flo explained in his introduction where we ran into problems. I really enjoyed the meeting and I look forward to come to future events to talk to people about their experiences with using python, and exchange tips and techniques. I use python in my work as a freelance programmer, mainly in the field of CAM (computer aided manufacturing). I live in Liverpool and share an office with the scraperwiki team (Julian Todd, Tom Mortimer-Jones, Aidan McGuire, Francis Irving), and through that had some exposure to web scraping. I think it would be a good idea to have a meeting in Liverpool some time in the future, to widen the participation. I am sure there are people here in Liverpool keen to attend. But I can understand any reluctance because it is quite a trip to make for an evening (as I found myself having to go back to Liverpool on a cold, rainy evening.) Regarding the scraper Flo and I started: Yes, I definitelty want to make it work, just have to find some time to do it. The url of the scraper is: http://scraperwiki.com/scrapers/dwdscraper/ But there's nothing there (yet).
