Best/craziest I've seen was Armin Rigo a few years ago at Europython - he repurposed (iirc) a bub-bros engine (which is written in python) as a means of demonstrating how Psyco works. Sounds mad, reality was madder, but worked really well. If I'm intending to give the slides to someone else - eg mine are uploaded onto slideshare - I tend to create a PDF of the slides. It's a little boring, but means people can flick through them after the event easily. There is kicking about somewhere something that converts ReST to slides, but then that missing the point of slides IMO. The best slide decks I've seen would work pretty well as a comic too (if small amounts of text was added underneath).
