Alright, I isolated the culprit:
$ cat seemsbig.py
from IPython.Shell import IPShellEmbed
ipshell = IPShellEmbed([])
$ /usr/bin/time -v pylint seemsbig.py

Question: is there a way to tell pylint to completely ignore this
module?
