Please don't ask why I would want to install such an old version of Python, but I have Python 2.3.1 installed anyway.  Now I am looking for the corresponding PyWin32 install files.  I believe they are available here https://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/ or here https://www.lfd.uci.edu/~gohlke/pythonlibs/ but I cannot fathom exactly what I need to download or what to do with the download.

If you click on version 200, for example, you'll see there is a file "pywin32-200.win32-py2.3.exe".  Download it and execute it. It will install itself in the proper location, which is stored in the registry.

And, as a rule, it's considered rude in a list like this to say "please don't ask why".  It may not be the case for you, but very often we get very specific off-the-wall questions that arose only because the asker took a wrong turn several steps ago.  By learning more about the "why", we can offer a much better overall experience.
