Agree? Should I submit a pull request? I'm not sure ATM - I'd be quite surprised if there was a bug in COM functions with no args, so it may be more subtle than that. But you should certainly get either a PR or issue on github for this, ideally with a complete repro. It might be quite some time (ie, many weeks) before I can look at this in more detail.
