I'm not really sure that I would go to such meetings.
It's ok every once and a while to do a joined meeting, but at the end of the
day - I like python and I don't like Perl.
I go to these meetings because of the language, because I enjoy writing in
it and I enjoy finding new things that can be done with it - not because
it's a scripting language, or a P language.
I think that a better solution is to do this every quarter of a year or so -
meet together and learn of something else ("And now for something completely
different...") - like Ruby, Javascript, Lisp or even Smalltalk, and maybe
hear about joint projects like Parrot.
"Me too". Joined meetings once-in-a-while sound like a very good
idea, but joining all the meetings would lower the attractivity for
most participants. (They would also lower the total amount of
activity but that can be fixed.) After all, people who want to hear
about all technologies can come to all the clubs (I believe we have
avoided collisions quite well).
About hosting and naming: this is an orthogonal issue. Separate
language-targeted meetings could be perfectly well organized under the
roof of a single "OSDClub". We can then claim to support "tagging" by
having some meetings that fall under more than one category ;-).
Having a single place that can host any meetings/library/etc. was
disscussed sevaral times and is probably a good idea too.
