Note that it's pretty easy to use pythonOCC from within freecad and make both communicate perfectly. But as for packaging, I suppose the main problem is the lack of mac users that can build and maintain precompiled packages for mac (We have the same problem with freecad actually). This can consume a lot of time, and it would be a big waste if the main developers were to spend their precious time building packages for the various platforms the app runs on, instead of spending it developing ;) So those packages usually depend on the community of users...
