Now I am totaly confused.
In preparation of my last mail I reapplied my modifications on the 39816be version
to avoid any confusion. I clearly stated this.

A comparision of the linenumbers of the diff files and the source files would have verified this.
Please do the following:
Forget the code example in my first mail, it was not intended as a basis for changes but only as demonstration of the
technique.
Delete the files I dumped on you with my second mail. I do not know the version and nobody needs to
since they are obsolete.
Stop poking around in obsolete files and hunting phantom problems, you are completely off road.
Find attached the diffs (from 39816be) as suggested.
