The kerning still isn't perfect (which may be a problem with the font
and/or gimp, and need some manual correction), but here's what I came up
with when I set the letter spacing to -4 in gimp.  I like this better.  The
default spacing on that font is set way too wide.

The biggest kerning issue to my mind is between the p and y.
