The OpenOffice project maintains a list of OpenOffice books at <http://www.openoffice.org/support/books.html>. Most of these books date from 2012 (OpenOffice 3.4), i.e. before the introduction of the sidebar. I must confess I haven't read any of them, since I've been using OpenOffice for almost ten years now.

If you could say a few things about what makes the documentation confusing and how we might improve it, that could be very helpful.
