I used qdvdauthor to convert a file from .avi to .mpeg2 because avidemux wasn't handling it and because qdvdauthor didn't like the movie buttons I was trying to create using the .avi file. They simply showed up as "error".
When I substituted the .mpeg2 file for the .avi file, I ran into the same problem with the movie buttons - suggesting it wasn't (just?) the movie format that was at fault. When I renamed the .mpeg2 file to a shorter name with no spaces and a .mpg extension, the problem was resolved. Further experimentation revealed that the problem actually was a comma in the file name. While legal, qdvdauthor doesn't seem to like it when trying to generate movie thumbnail buttons. Another minor problem is that file names ending in .mpg don't show up in the movie list when selecting a movie to use for the movie button. I have to change the selection to "all files" in order to select a .mpg movie. Also, when I use the qmplayer widgets as the media engine, I always get a crash file found report when I start qdvdauthor, unless there really was a crash to recover from - in which case I don't. As always, these problems relate to v2.0100 (build March 23, 2010) as used in Debian/Squeeze (courtesy of the debian-multimedia.org repository). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special Offer-- Download ArcSight Logger for FREE (a $49 USD value)!
