Hi all. Thanks Larry and all for raising the marketing issue. I agree we have an issue here; I do not agree it is a devastating one. Our stats are all positive, our market penetration is thrilling, etc. The root of it is the fact that QGIS is developer-driven, with determinant input from customers, who "vote" paying for their needed feature. This explains the quality of code, the dev-friendly environment, and also the limited attention to marketing. As PSC marketing advisor, I tried to raise interest on these and other points in the past, without success. I think times are ripe to examine the question once more. Especially the website needs to be redone; we have done some work in Valmiera, but there is still something to do (as usual, volunteers needed). All the best. - -- Paolo Cavallini - Faunalia www.faunalia.eu Full contact details at www.faunalia.eu/pc Nuovi corsi QGIS e PostGIS: http://www.faunalia.it/calendario -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAlGXsLoACgkQ/NedwLUzIr6yOACdEuWTW3rlEbdnrhffgh3B99KE AMwAnA3qrCokRVACHxbOlz69yQPBUlej =8MQv -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ Qgis-developer mailing list [email protected] http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer
