Hi Kristian,

Thanks for the information/help.

I compiled proj from github (5.2) and confirmed that QGIS is compiled against it in the about dialogue.

However, when trying to add a custom projection (see screenshot below)

it complains that the definition is not valid.

Any idea what might be wrong?

Thanks again,
Andreas

Andreas,

Given a recent development version of PROJ you should be able to use the
projection in QGIS. Just add a custom CRS with the setup string “+proj=eqearth”.

For those who don’t want to build PROJ themselves will only have to wait a few
weeks until PROJ 5.2.0 is released and picked up by the packagers :-)

If i had the latest proj4 compiled on my machine - would I have this new
"EqualEarth" projection automatically available in QGIS, or is there something
that needs to be added in QGIS as well?

Hi,

Twitter is full of mentions of the "EqualEarth" projection. It is implemented in
many web frameworks now and even appears on TV
-->https://twitter.com/MtnMapper/status/1034431370867761152

How can we get this projection into QGIS? Seems it is in proj4
already:https://github.com/OSGeo/proj.4/commit/b2fe2277e225d3e666cdcce92182595bb547cb0c

Would be nice to show that QGIS is more agile than other commercial competitors
;-)
