Hi Micha, This support has been dropped for 1.8 in an effort to better organize the plugin situation. For 1.8 the only default plugin repo that is available is the offical repo at plugins.qgis.org. Sounds like a harsh/bold move but having all the plugins in one place is a lot easier to manage and allows for a better user experience.
