Hi,
This has been discussed a fortnight ago on this list
http://osgeo-org.1560.n6.nabble.com/Problem-with-quot-add-postgis-layers-quot-in-qgis-1-80-td4989245.html#a4989288

workaround in addition to registering your PostGIS tables in geometry_columns: you can stop the loading process and/or use a table's metadata

Hey Jan,

Do you have a geometry_columns table in your database? This will
speed it up a lot.

Hi!

I find It frustrating to wait for the connections for all tables in a
PostGIS database to be updated in the Connections dialog before being able
to add a Layer.

This seems to be new in the Lisboa version which weakens its usability a
lot. For over 50 large tables it takes ages. Any workarounds or fixes
coming?
