Philippe,
via the map composer you certainly can export high resolution maps (I
just tried e.g. 1200 dpi to png on OSX 10.10, no problem). Something
interesting for you might also be to export to svg (or pdf/postscript)
to add some finishing details via some graphics application (I found
that Inkscape works better for this approach than e.g. Illustrator, but
then you need to get used to shortcuts in Inkscape being the Windows
way... CTRL instead of CMD, etc.).
But actually, you can get quiet a lot done in Map Composer.
This is maybe still a good tutorial to get you started:

I don't have much experience with GeorefExport. On OSX there seem to be
some problems getting it to do the transformation.. probably some path
issue.
Good luck,
Olav

Hi Philippe,
For a quick answer, I shall recommand you two possibilities to export
high resolution maps :
- You can use the map composer / then you can adjust the quality at
the level you want in the "composition" / then you can export as an
image ;
- You can use the plugin "GeorefExport" ;
I'm sure there are other solutions, but I help those will help you for
a begining ...

Hi,
I've installed QGIS 2.6.1-Brighton (following the explanations given
on your website) on my private MacBook Pro Retina, 13-inch, Late
2012, processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory with
Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C109).
I'm the responsible person for making and updating the ENTSO-E map
<https://www.entsoe.eu/publications/order-maps-and-publications/electronic-grid-maps/Pages/default.aspx> and
I use currently ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10 but since I found your
software, I decided to try it with my ESRI shape files I work with.
I like your software which is performant, very user friendly and
free, which works with ESRI shape files and which works on Macs! The
only thing I miss is that it doesn't seem to be possible to export
the maps in high resolution, it seems to be limited to 400 dpi, which
is not enough for quality printing, the large maps (131.1 x 116.9 cm
and 161.1 x 116.5 cm for the biggest) have plenty of small details.
My question to you: will it be possible in the future to export in
600 dpi or higher? If not, then I will have to used ESRI software as
I did until now.
Thank you in advance for your answer and best regards
